FIRST 'OFFICIAL' PROJECT FOR BONES DRUMWORKS!

Finishing up work on my Tama Starclassics, and got my first official project

for BONES Drumworks! A 6-peice Yamaha kit that's in dire need of work!

I took a few 'before' pictures to document the progress, as this will start the gears

of my new line of work!

Good from far, far from good!


This 22" wood hoop will need to be replaced! Too chewed to resuse!

The 16" floor tom is missing one of the leg brackets, hope I can find

one to use to make this drum useable again!

Behind the kit, looking at it and thinking how this will be showcase-able

again as thinking of my plan of attack for this Yamaha!

BIRTH OF AN IDEA...

So with the way things are going with my drum refinishing project,

and the props from my friends on how good the drums are looking,

as well as me being unemployed, I've decided to be my own boss and

start my own adventure in the workforce...

That's right! I've decided to be my own boss, and do things my way!

First and formost, (after finishing the last peice of my kit) is

starting on my first 'official project' for a friend of mine which is gonna

be a challenge to test my skills in this game!

New flyer for The Dickies show...

Wanted to make a flyer for all the bands to use to promote the show with The Dickies!

2 DOWN, 1 TO GO!

Got the 18" floor tom done today! Applied the final coat of polyurethane,

let it dry (as it got in the high 90's today) and re-assembled

this evening to complete the drum. Only thing left is my bass drum, which

is gonna take some time due to the hoops having to be sanded

by hand and not the palm sander (which I've been using for the drums)

to remove the old skin, and prep it for new skin. The results

are beyond my expectations, as some other cat would have charged

me in the 100's to do the 3 drums. I did it for a fraction of that!

MORE PROGRESS!

I love taking pictures of my projects before I start on them so I can

look at it after the final results and go "Yeah, it went from fubugly to awesome...

and I made it happen! WOOT!" LOL! It's a great documentation!

So after my 'test run' of redoing the Keller snare, I was confident that

I could give my 12 year old kit a much needed makeover!!!

I finally got the 14" Tama rack tom signed, sealed and delivered!

WOW! It looks brand new and custom, and AMAZINGLY better

than it was before! Now it'll be challenging to keep it that way, with

some upcoming shows and vice versa!!!

Got the snare re-assembled, and it's looking good!

So I started on the 14" rack tom to get that going...




...and I got that stained! Looking new without all the road scars!

And now it's time for my 18" floor tom to get it's treatment!

JUST DO IT!

SO I FINALLY DECIDED TO REFINISH MY 1998 TAMA 3-PIECE

TEAL BLUE STARCLASSIC DRUM SET!

I BOUGHT IT 3 YEARS AGO FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER, WHO

GAVE IT SOME PRETTY DECENT ROAD SCARS, AND

HAD 1 GUY IN MIND TO DO IT, BUT INSTEAD DECIDED TO TAKE ON THE TASK

MYSELF TO GIVE IT SOME BLOOD, SWEAT, TEARS & LOVE TO THE PROJECT!

I WORKED ON A KELLER WOOD SNARE TO TEST MY SKILL ON HOW I WAS

GOING TO ACHIEVE WHAT I WANTED; AND SO FAR, SO GOOD!

NEW PROJECT...

I'm about to take on another drum restoration project soon.

My 1998 Tama Starclassic needs some cosmetic surgery badly as I cant stand

looking at all the scratches and dents in the drums as the original owner

didn't care for his gear as I do. I'll post some progress pics as they develop.

I do have my back-up Premier kit that I will use in case the DP get's

some shows going soon, as we finishing re-mixing our EP.

ONE MORE TIME?

DONKEY PUNCH has 1 more show in the books as I plan

to take some time off to focus on my priorites with finding

a job, as well as having some time for myself sans music.

Lately I'm getting the feeling like all this work isn't paying off

due to lack of people showing up, or even showing interest in

the band at all. I had hoped to somehow get back all the hard

work I myself had put in, come back to DP;

(or even my last band) but no dice.

I love playing music, and doing what's necessary in making

the band prosper and get ahead. I'm always a team-player

and give 100% of myself in my role as a drummer

as well as a member of the band.

Gonna take some time to re-evaluate my role in music.

Let's hope for the best, right???

ON THE RADIO IN 1994, AND IT EXPOSED ME TO A GENRE OF MUSIC
THAT I STILL LISTEN TO ON OCCASSION, AND BEING A FAN OF METAL;
STILL KEPT SUPPORTING THE MUSIC OF THE "DRAB FOUR" FROM
BROOKLYN! THIS WAS A BIT OF A SHOCK, BECAUSE BEING
THE JOKER THAT PETE IS, NO ONE KNEW IF HE WAS
SERIOUS, CRASS, OR JOKING.

Doing some final touches on our EP/Demo, and I have the final

artwork/design done! I even found an old-school shrink-wrap

machine for $75 to seal the deal and give it a pro DIY look to it!

Our show @ Michael's Pub went great!

Our next gig is in Van Nuys, more soon!
