My Granparents: "Grandma & Grandad"

(Grandma & Grandad nappin'!)
My cousin Justin (JJ) developed some old photos from his Mom, and came across this cute gem. It's of my Grandparents (My Dad's/Aunt Toni's parents) crashed out on the couch somewhere. I think about them everyday and how much I miss the old days with them. My Grandfather was a serious man of hobbies!! Total Model Train nut and scale model extraordinaire (which is where I see I get my hobby cravings from) and my Grandma made the afghan's, cookies, little odds & ends, gifts, etc.
My Grandfather passed in 1996 and my Grandmother in 2005.
I miss them both. (Sorry if I'm bumming, I'm not really. Just honoring them for being them!)

(Grandma & Grandad, circa 1940?, in his new car!)

The story goes like this: My Grandfather was orphaned at a young age and as he got into his teens, he enlisted into the service. He somehow managed to be accepted into my Great-Grandfather's fold as his 'family'. He met my Grandmother when he was 17 and she was 14, and he waited until she was of age to ask her out on a date, but even then; there was magic between them! And the rest is history! I thought it was a cool story, because of how my Aunt Toni told it to me and the pictures I have of them together. It was devastating to me to lose my Grandad simply because he was alway there for me. I'm not disrespecting my other Grandpa (My mother's Father) in any way, shape or form, but I was closer to Grandad that Grandpa. And even more devastating to lose my beloved Grandmother; the only Grandmother I knew growing up (My Mom's mother passed shortly after I was born). I miss them both so much! I look back at the days, and smile and think that they are proud of me because I am a good person with a good heart...just like them!
